To me, it won.
At "only" 72 feet, that tells me it has the best tires and most planted, which means better launches for races.
The Camaro SS spun it's tires more in 2nd gear than the 5.0 did in 1st with a hard drop clutch launch.
That sucks for the Camaro SS driver at the strip (or street) where you have to modulate the throttle all through 1st and 2nd gear just to get a good 1/4 time.

With the 5.0 Stang, that simply means you can launch harder with less useless spinning and less modulating, which in turn means you can get to full throttle quicker.

So showy smoky burnouts the 5.0 might of lost, but for racing, that "test" showed which car would be the best for getting the lowest numbers consistently and easier.

Loved the jab at the SS with their choice of "hard" tires too.
Anybody else catch their typo in the video saying the Mustang GT had 309 lbs ft of torque, not 390?

Yeah it looks as if the mustang lost due to theres only having 309 ft/lb torque as opposed to the normal 390 ft/lb.....

What a stupid test and article. My Mazda3 can do a longer burnout than a GT-R, my car wins. That Sr. Road Test editor is a dweeb. Nice sunglasses dweeb.
