? about my SUPERCHIP
hey all i have a question about my superchip ive already install it but i was talking to some people from this forum about what i should do to my car first since its a new 03 Gt and im trying to living it up a bit but they said that it wasnt a good thing to get my chip so early is that true and if so couldnt i just but the stock program back into the CPU and wait until i get everything else done to it before i re install it??? ohh and my car is a manual... does a chip like that really help it a lot or is it a waste of money??
CH,

Superchips aren't a waste of money, waste of money is if you cannot get anything out of it. Keep the chip, make a few other mods and then use the chip after you make your mods. -- other than that, hp gains will be minimal.

Get some gears you'll def. liven things up a bit and it's cheap.

ps - since your car is so new, remember to check with Ford so that you don't get something that is going to void your warranty. (very important).

When dealing with thses things, look out for "parol bar".
Basically, it means that no matter what was said before a written legal agreement is void after signed. So if they tell you it doesn't, but it does, your outta luck.
BUT, federal law prohibits the voiding on any car except for that part replaced....unless the dealership can prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure then they are still responsible to hold up their end of the deal.
Want a good example? Let's say you juice your car, hit the drags, and simutaniously your sunroof won't retract and you blow your motor.
You ran a 500 shot of nitrous and the dealership isn't liable for the motor. However, they are completely liable to repair the sunroof.

Superchips programmer was the first thing I bought on my car, and after I had run the program, my waterpump went out for some reason, ( I had 9,000 k ) I used the " return to stock?" option took it to the shop, (and periodically the Ford dealer WILL check your car for upgraded programs in your system.) When I got it back , they made a mention to me about if I would be interesed in purchasing a chip from Ford, them installing it fully covered by warranty, ( because I was complaining about the car being weak in power compared to my '90 5.0) I told him I was NOT interested. He said "ok I was just saying that would be an option since we found no traces of a previous chip being there." What i'm trying to say is, get the Superchips, and if you ever have to take it in to be worked on, put it back to stock first, ( #1 they won't know about the chip, and you'll still have the warranty) #2. It's better than the chip they can give you, believe me. Lastly, if you ever have to take it in, just don't forget to put it to stock, because they also put in a computer "upgrade" sometimes while it's there, and if they do, you'll never be able to use your programmer again. This happened to a friend of mine. He forgot to turn it back to stock, and they went in , and upgraded his program, and when he got it back, he tried to install his chip, and a warning code came up on the LED telling him to call the chip company. Now all he can use it for is diagnostics!!! --good luck to you
