New 89 owner here
Hi, I'm RJ.
I'm from Leavenworth Kansas, (NO! Not the prison...YET!), and i just traded for an 89 Mustang.
It's a 4 banger 5 speed car and it was in the hands of my best friend. He has so many projects he
hasn't had time to pay attention to it, and he needed my 2000 ZX2 for one of his projects.
The ZX2 my wife had 2 crashes in, and I just don't have the resourses to rebuild it.
So the only problem so far is (He thinks) the MAF. I'll see what I can do after I get it.
Is it going to be restored stock? Are you NUTS? Or course not! But I'm not the type to build a
'belly-button' V-* 5speed car. I'm thinking a nice Turbo 4 to liven things up a little and doing some
suspension mods and such until I overwelm the little motors abilities to keep up.
Plus that will let me go out and play in the cones without facing the other 2 Kazillion V-8 Mustang
owners with upteen years of experience with this car.
So, what do you all think?

It hasn't arrived yet, but the pics will be coming.
I've been a member of the Ford Escort Owers Association for about 1 & 1/2 years
and I like 4 bangers. Wonder if my neighbors will even notice that the Toredor Red
ZX2 with the black nose and hood turned into a Red Mustang?[:-]
I do have a few questions I'll be asking if I can find the right forums, like
is the 89 4 banger a 4 lug or 5 lugs,,,,ect...
Thanks for the warm welcome.

More news.
It turns out to be an automatic, and like a lot of them the clear-coat is peeling on the hood
and front fenders. Randy had it started today and called me up to hear it.
He says it's like it valve floats when you let off from reving it. I think maybe tired original
valve springs and a lead foot in it's past.
It does have Mustang aluminum 14 inch rims with a mix of tires on it. I'll fix that toot sweet.
The sun peeling give me an oportunity to see how it looks with a blacked out hood and cowl
cover. And if I have to change valve springs, why not find a little better cam? Do I have to pull the cam
to replace the valve springs? And the automatic seems OK for now. Which automatic came in these?
If it's a C-4, I know a ton of tricks with that one.
Well, as soon as it gets here, I'll be posting pics.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.
