New Guy from Tennessee
Hi all,
After a 9 year hiatus, I'm back in a Mustang again! Started with an 81 2.3 notch 4 speed I bought new in '81 (my first new car!). Bought a new 85 Capri 5.0 in '85. Bought a new 91 LX 5.0 hatch 5 speed in early 92. I loved that car, pampered it for 135,000 miles. I had added Flowmaster 2-chambers, off-road h-pipe, BBK shorty headers, a Hurst shifter, and some nice finned Cobra valve covers. It decided to burn to the ground in the parking lot in early 1998.
I bought a '95 Corvette with the insurance settlement (and some additional cash!) and managed to total that Vette about 8 months later, shattering myleft elbow and my pride along with the car. '98 wasn't a good year for cars. Bought a '93 Vette, drove it daily until I gave it to my wife for Christmas in 2005. She drove it daily, and at the 201,000 mile point about a year ago, she lost control in a curve on a rainy day, and put it in a ditch. She's got a sweet '96 Corvette coupe now, which she bought with 49,000 miles on it.
I needed a replacement for my '88 Honda Accord daily driver which was getting pretty tired with 272,000 miles on it when I came across a '90 LX hatch, 2.3 auto for $600, with 107,000 miles on it. It's an Iowa car, so it's got a fair amount of rust, but I don't think it's going to break in half anytime soon. It sure is nice to be back in a Mustang, though I will say that the 2.3 is a bit different from the 5.0 I so fondly remember.
Both my wife and I are private pilots, we love to fly for fun any chance we get, hence the user name.
I've lurked here for a bit, and this seems to be one of the friendliest forums around. Thanks for having me!
Mark
