Ford Harmonic Balancer
[&:] I have a 1974 Glastron Boat with a 302 Ford V-8 engine. The original engine came stock with 351 heads. I started working with the old engine and was going to get a cam, new heads but I decided to upgrade it an bought a brand new 302 engine from a later Ford Explorer. The engine comes with a Harmonic Damper on the fron but it does not have a flywheel. I have my old engine flywheel and the bell housing, etc to mount it up to the Volvo Outdrive.
Among the things to do are:
1. Match up flywheel/damper.
2. Figure out the fuel supply. I picked up a Mercruiser Ford 302 EFI setup quite cheap but it is missing the upper manifold. The engine comes with the lower EFI manifold. I also have an Edelbrock manifold and the Holley 450 CFM 4 bbl carburetor that came with the boat. I could go either carburetion or EFI.
3. Figure out what to do with the ignition.
I know that this is not a mustang but I figure it has a lot in common.
Thanks,
Jim
The older 302 is labeled 200 hp but I feel that the new engine will probably crank out 350 hp if I set it up right.
