1970 Mustang - Drum to Disc Conversion
Hello from Fort Collins, Colorado.
My son and I are new members to Vintage Mustang and new owners of a 1970 Mustang. We completed our first project converting the front Drums (4-lug) to disc (5-lug). We are now looking at the rear conversion and possibly replacing the Master Cylinder and Proportioning Valve. I heard it's much more economical and easier just to replace the rear axle (Ford 4-door Granada)??? If anyone has any incite on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, after we completed the Front Brake Conversion and bled the brakes I noticed the "Brake Light" to be on. I tried centralizing the valve per Chilton's recommendations but the light remains on. Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue may be? I haven't touched the Rear Brakes yet so I don't believe the E-Brake is my problem but who knows??
Thanks for the support.
Dan

RE: 1970 Mustang - Drum to Disc Conversion
Tech forums will perhaps be the better more capable help for you.
The E-brake will need a new setup to support it's intended use. It is like that for my Foxbody Conversion at least. But I made the jump from a 8.8 to a 9inch rear end so there was and is still as the project has not been finished still a lot of work to do to get the e-brake back to working order.
And yes the Disc is easier to work with, but again you'll have to check with tech on what is better to work with, there may also be available some swap kits especially for your year.
