You may want to repost in a different section because you may not get many replies here. I would probably start by asking the onwer the VIN so that you could run a carfax on it..also pics of the engine and the interior. The car is 18 yrs old and only has 86K miles. Assuming it was not a daily driver, the mileage seem a bit low...but that's not strange. Mine only has 6K and its almost 2 yrs old. I guess cant say much else without additional info.

The ad says that it needs a timing chain. I'd be asking if it is worn or broken. A broken timing chain/belt can be BAD news. If it happens at speed it's very likely that you will end up with bent valves and or holed pistons. If so you'd be looking at MAJOR engine work.

I'd say it really depends on your mechanical know-how and the rest of the cars condition. If they're asking 1200, you can likely get em down from that so it'd be pretty cheap if the car is in good condition other than timing.
The big question here is why does it need a timing chain? Is that what it really needs or is that just a guess because it either runs crappy or not at all.
I've rebuit many a 5.0 over the years and this would bepretty easy to do if all you really need is a timing chain. If more than that is really needed or the rest of the car is really worn out it may become a different story.
I'd say call, ask as many questions as possible and if it sounds legit, go have a look.
