Default Hey

I've been on the site for a little while, just haven't ever posted here. My name is Patrick, I go to Georgia Southern University and I just got an 88 GT 5 speed, white w/ gray interior. I'm having tranny leakage and a few things here and there, but other than that it runs great. I was also told that it has an engine out of a police car. Is there any way to really tell. I don't really care if it does or not. It does run good (besides it not wanting to idle worth a crap), but besides that I love it. And everyone here has been helpful. Thanks.

Patrick

The police package (DSO) for 82-93 Mustangs didn't include any motor modifications. There is however other mods done to the car that are interesting. Here is a site with some good info.

That is an interesting site.. I didnt notice if it said once you get the codes, how you can tell if it was a highway patrol car. But my stupid speedometer only goes up to 85 mph <img border="0" src= "http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/sarge/Whatever_anim.gif> So that should answer my question.. lol.

A primary means of identifying an SSP Mustang is Domestic Special Order (DSO) code, which is found on a credit card-sized plate affixed to the driver's side of the Special Service Mustang's radiator core support, right behind the headlight; or on the vehicle identification decal on the driver's door. This two digit hyphen four digit (XX-XXXX) code is unique to that particular Mustang or a series of Mustangs that were ordered under that DSO. Each car's DSO can be tracked back to Ford to find out the original jurisdictional customer along with all of the unique "cop stuff" that was factory installed.

Why are you picking on me wherever I post?

I'm not picking, I'm observing.

I don't know how fast 5.0's go. "It's a friggin 5.0" doesn't mean anything but a Domestic V8 to me. I'm used to a world of computer limitations put in by the factory, so sue me. My speedo reads 130 but I'm limited to 108, so the question is valid.

There is a large chunk of 5.0's with an 85 mph speedometer. Dont ask me why they made them that way. My car is not crazy modified if that's what you're referring to by domestic V8 but it definately goes faster than 85.

I'm chill. Maybe because my car is an automatic it has a low speedometer.. I have no clue.

Can you elaborate on that though?

Domestic

V8

Sounds a bit simplified.
