New guy - Tbird
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I recently purchased a '96 Thunderbird LX 4.6L V8 with 90k on it. It's the same engine as the Mustang and I can't find any decent Thunderbird forums so I've been reading this site to learn about the engine upgrades that would go well with the car. It has, unfortunately, NPI heads like the '96 stang so I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to PI or what to do.
But before I do any PI head/cam switches I'll be putting on exhaust (hopefully engine back because I hear that the t-birds airflow is terrible) and a PI intake mani along with some C&L plenum and a 75mm TB.
I wouldn't mind any suggestions on what order to do everytihng in, and will a SCT tuner do me any good for these engines? I'm used to turbo engines where tune is key no matter what you're doing.
I won't even ask if the PI switch is a good idea as I know how to search and I'm only part way through reading the arguements of PI vs NPI heads on these engines. I am looking into adding a blower in the future, so it's a tough decision.
I'll post some pictures when I have some good weather.
