Default First 'Stang

Hey gang,

I just picked up my first decent car since the Jeep I got when I turned 16...an '01 GT 5 speed.

I'll post some pics later tonight from my home computer.

I'm new to cars, new to mods, new to Mustangs, so I'm pretty in the dark. I figure this'll be a good spot to learn.

I bought the car used with 75k miles. It has a Borla exhaust (I don't know specifics-any idea on how to find out?) and an AEM CAI (again, don't know specifics).

Thinking about saving up some money to get new gears first off...as a rookie, any advice for me to check to see if there's been any aftermarket work done on the gears?

Thanks for the welcome...

Haven't checked the gear ratio I'm running yet--I guess I could try to conceal my mechanical rookie status, but I'd rather admit it and try to correct it...I have no idea how I would go about seeing what I'm already running. Recommendations?

no problem.. and hey, we all gotta start somewhere.. and you're liable to get a better answer than mine in the "Tech." section, but simply put, get it up on jack stands so you can turn the rear wheels freely, spin the rear tire one revolutionwhile you count your rotation of thedrive shaft(making a mark on it helps) ie.. 3.55 gears = a ratio of 3.55:1 thedrive shaftspins 3.55 times to trun the rear axle 1 complete revolution. this should get you very close..
