New Georgia member with a 68 convertible.
Hello,
I have owned my 68 289 candyapple red black top and interior 3 speed carsince 1983. I was a senior in high school when my neighbor sold me the car forfive hundred dollars. For 25years I have managed to hold on to my car towing it from state to state and keeping it in various states of hibernation since 1989.Thisyear I decided to bring it back to life after sitting at a light and having a completely restored 67 convertible pull up next to me.
I just completed a totalbody overhaulto get all the rust out at a professional body shop.I have been reading these posts for years and finally decided to join one so that I can ask questions now that I am ready to paint my carand rebuild it to its former glory. I will be looking for informationon such things as cost topaint my car and putting it back together.

RE: Average costs for painting a 68
Well painting yourself would save you money you probably arn't going to get the quality finish that you would get with a professional paint job. I painted my car and it came out really good but its not perfect, over spray was a big issue in my case and i payed for it by sanding it out for days.
I had a compressor already so I just needed to get the gun and borrowed some my uncles stuff (regulator, filter) for it then it was just buying the paint. If i remember right to paint my car it cost me around $800.
