Default Newb here, saying hello

As the title states..

Will be helping a buddy of mine drop a 5.4l (over-bored .20) in his '99 GT when he gets back from Iraq this winter. Figured it wouldn't hurt to troll around and learn a little something about these here motors...

Thanks,

Levi

Welcome to MF!

That swap sounds like it will turn that 99GT into a pure monster. Good luck with it!

Yeah, it should be... thinking we'll be turbo charging it as well, I can't remember off the top of my head if he was going to go turbo, S/C, or just stay N/A... either way it will be a nice little Skyline killer here on the island. I won't even be ashamed if he can take my little toy ^_^.

Is the 5.4 transplant very common? Aka, anybody know of any pre-existing walk-throughs??

Hi Levi, welcome to the forums.

My previous vert was a '99 GT 5-speed but all I ever put into it was a performance chip, sorry. Try your question in the 4.6 modular section.

I'm honestly more liable to just lurk, listen, and learn... I data-dumped just about everything concerning piston engines several years ago when I switched over to a rotary. Thinking I'll have to spend some time at howstuffworks.com before I start asking Mustang specific tech questions =P
