Default New with first Mustang

Hello everyone. I am a 21 yer old Asian guy who is trying not to fit the stereotype of driving a Honda, Nissan, or Toyota. I just traded a non running turbo E30 (1984 BMW 325e) that was in excellent condition exterior wise, for a not so good looking but running 87 Mustang GT.

The Mustang needs a good amount of attention Exterior wise, but on the other hand it has less than 100K miles on the car itself. Most of my attention will be on getting the car to look decent first. I will have to replace the hatch, hood, fenders, door handles, lights, and new paint and badges.

Unlike previous cars in the past, am am really excited about my first V8.

Well I went to replace the waterpump and noticed that my timing cover is cracked all the way across the top.

Sorry to hear that. The good news is, you can find parts for the 302 easily and there is plenty of 'how to' info on the net (probably find a guide to help you on this site). I've owned smaller cars and an import (VW gti) and this (mustang) is BY FAR the easiest car I've owned to do maintenance and repair work on. I almost bought an ls1 camaro... I couldn't imagine doing any kind of work on one of those, you open the hood you can only see half the engine.

Anyway, you should post in the tech area, you'll get some good help hopefully.

Thats one reason why I bought the car. The E30 was a PAIN in the butt. So I traded for this GT. Its not as pretty but I already like it more.
