Looking to get a mustang....and it couldn't be soon enough.
Glad I found this site, hope everyone is doing well.
A little quick background. My background as far as American cars isn't that extensive. Two dodge dakotas, both did what I needed them to do. No complaints or major faults. After graduating college I wanted to get behind a german luxury brand. So I decided to go with a used Audi, and then traded up to a Benz.
At that point all I had driven were automatic transmissions. In february I decided it was time for me to learn how to drive standard. So right now, I am driving a Jetta TDI. No complaints, easy car to learn how to drive stick, and great fueal economy to boot. Besides that, I'm suffereing from boredom with this car. Being in my mid 20's I would like something fast and sporty, but not something that would destroy the bank account....or lack there of actually. And now that I can drive a standard transmission, it's all making sense to me.
German sports cars while great, well....they don't exactly fit the budget. And something keeps pushing me towards "buy american", a feeling i've actually never had before and would have criticized anyone in the past for having.
Right now it's between the camaro and mustang. The challenger was in there but it looks pretty "boat-like" in comparison to the new mustang and the camaro. I am leaning more towards the mustang, as Ford has had more time to perfect it over the years, while GM is starting fresh with a whole new design. And IMO, the mustang just looks better inside and out.
Now, as to the reason why I am here. I would like to get some opinions from you guys as far as what you like/dislike about the mustang. If any of you guys own a 2010 I would love to hear. Also since the car does not have a rear independent suspension, does this greatly affect the car being more tail happy? Needless to say I don't go to tracks or run quarter miles. Also, how does it handle in the snow? Do any of you guys have experience putting dedicated snow tires on mustangs in the winter?
Looking forward to hearing from you guys.

I really like some of the engineering on the new Camaro. Very high t ch, very slick. But, it's the first model year. And you know there will be technical issues. The future of GM is not looking so hot right now, so those issues may never be resolved.
Rear drive cars are not that bad in the snow. It just takes a little practice.
I'm pretty happy with my Mustang. Does everything I want it to do, gets good gas mileage, and is the best looking car on any dealers lot for <$50K.
