New to Fords! Former LS1er
I made the switch to the darkside. I've owned 2 previous LS1-equipped cars('01 Z28 and an '01 Trans Am), and a 383 '85 Trans Am. Both TAs were heavily modded. Its time for me to check out what these 4.6s are made of.
In light of the recent bailouts to GM and Chrysler as well as their subsequent LS series engines/ Hemi engines being built in Mexico, I refuse to throw a dollar their way ever again.
I'll be honest here....the 4.6s have NOT impressed me. I often attended car shows where there were rows upon rows of Mustangs, many of which were supercharged. I was floored when the majority of them were only making 380-420ish to the ground. My cam-only(at the time) LS1 was making that! I then moved up to to a H/C/I n2o forged motor built and found the only 4.6 cars making power to match mine were KB/Whipple 03-04 Cobras. I understand that the 4.6 motor alone is a dog and needs F/I to get them moving along.
My car is a 2005 Lincoln Town Car. My plans on it are to get the forged internals and to go with a turbo kit...I hope to make between 550 and 600 to the wheels. I've long wanted a sleeper car and felt this would be a good way to start.
I hope to learn a lot here.
