Convertible with leather seats in Arizona
I'm currently in the market for a used S197 V6 convertible and haven't settled on all the details of my future purchase. One of the things that I'm up in the air about is if I should go with cloth or leather(let's assume factory leather).
Living in Phoenix, my concern is how will the leather do over time. This will be my daily driver and I park in uncovered parking at work. I plan on keeping the top up most of the time when I'm parked, but just curious what effect the heat and extremely dry air will have on the seats. How often would I need to use leather conditioner to keep it looking good and stop it from cracking. With regular upkeep, what kind of lifespan can I expect?
What effect does having the top down have on the seats.
Once summer hits how bad is it dealing with the extra seat heat?
Do you have to deal with slipping and sliding in the seats or do they grip pretty well?
Thanks for your thoughts and experiences. Hopefully in a few months I'll be enjoying the ride instead of researching it!

I deal with nothing but leather. the only time where grip might be an issue is if you soak it in leather conditioner, but as long as you take care of them, keep it cleaned and refreshed. they will probably last longer then you own the car.

Welcome to the site. You gotta go with leather! I'd keep that top up all the time while parked. Throw in a windshield blind too since you're in the desert...Better to eventually replace the top than the leather on the seats.
