newb from TN Looking for help deciding on GT or Cobra
Hello all fellow mustang owners. I am currently working on a 2002 Mustang 3.8L v6 for my father-in-law. Installing everything he finds on the internet, lol. I have never been a forum member but often come to them for help so I decided to finally join one. I originally owned a 2001 Mustang GT Laser Red 5 speed and loved that car. The family came and it got traded in on a Navigator. I am a few years older and find myself wanting a 2001-2004 gt or cobra (with low miles) that can sit in the garage and I can play with and modify. I have always wanted a supercharged mustang and I am debating on buying one already supercharged or getting a GT with low miles and adding one to it. Any help would be appreciated in the decision. This forum has been a great help to me and hopefully I can add to it.

Hey bud,
I think most folks would agree that the 4-valve engine in the Cobras handle supercharging better than the 2-valve in the GT. But I'd say it really depends on 2 things:
1. Whether you would enjoy the work of adding the supercharger yourself or not?
2. Budget, as in would you have to get the GT first then save up for the supercharger?
If you're not the type that enjoys doing the work yourself, and you can afford it, I gotta say go for an 03/04 Cobra. The work is already done, the engine is solid and already more built than any of the other New Edge models.
If you can't/don't go for the Terminator, then I'd still say try for a 4-valve if you can, 99/01 Cobra or Mach-1. Some of the other guys will chime in I'm sure, but I seem to recall that everything I've read says the 4-valve is better for boosting...
Of course, some folks like the 'sleeper' car idea as well, if you go for that then the GT would be better, then you could surprise all the arrogant guys on the road that try to run on a 'mere' GT
I have owned an 04 GT and an 04 Cobra, and of course there's no comparing them. I definitely preferred buying the car already built to that level, rather than doing it myself or adding it later. Whatever you end up doing, good luck and enjoy!

welcome
The Cobra would definitely be a better platform....but it all depends on your budget. For a nice one, you're probably going to be around $22K-$24K....more miles or needing some TLC, $18K-$22K.
