I have sort of inherited an '86 Mustang GT--my son bought it a few months ago, and is now moving to Hagerstown, MD where he has no facilities. and the car needs some work!
It suffered much at the hands of a previous owner who must have had stock in a sheet metal screw factory, as they are EVERYWHERE. PO installed a 4" cowl hood and used sheet metal screws along the fender aprons as alignment bumpers.
Lots of neglect, and a paint job w/o benefit of surface prep. Oh well.
The immediate concerns are brakes ( lost them on the drive here), and replacing the starter. Then replacing the hood with oem, and rebuilding the window glass channels, and probably a top and rear curtain.
I'll be posting in the tech areas as needed.

Sometimes its a good thing when something goes wrong. My son couldn't take the car to Hagerstown because it needs a starter. On the way to my house--it lost brakes. I got into the brakes a little today--RF rubber hose blown--and the steel line was rusted and leaking. That explains why no front brakes, but what about the rear? The steel line for the rear brakes--where it exits the proportioning valve is rusted and leaking. Looks like we are in for some major component replacement---the front pads and calipers look good, but the lines are bad.
