Default First Ford, and first Mustang

Hello all, new fella here. Just bought my first Ford yesterday as well as first Mustang
The body is an 1990 LX, originally a 5.0, however the engine was swapped, for some reason with an older carb'd one, which I have no clue what it is!
If anyone could help me identify exactly what engine it is, that'd be great.

Sorry for the low light, was cleaning it up a bit last night.

I'm not the most knowledgeable on years, but it looks like a 302 from the deck height and distributor boss, and it's probably not an HO motor from the stock cast exhaust manifolds and valve covers. If those are original to this motor. Also you can compare firing order to a HO motor and a regular 302 as they are different.

Otherwise, you can post these pic's in the Fox/SN tech section and someone there will tell you exactly what it is.

It looks pretty old school, maybe even a 289. But as orangepeel alluded you'd get better answers in the tech thread. But welcome anyway.
