Question Ignition problems

I have a question regarding my project 69 mustang coupe.
Question: When I turn the ignition switch one position to the right (accessory position) the engine starts. It should start only when it's turned two position to the right, then once it starts and you let go of the key it'll fall back into the first position. I've disconnected the wiring, removed the switch and taken the key cylinder out and re installed it back into the switch and it worked as it should. Reconnected the wiring to the switch, and the same thing happen, started in the first position. I might add that I purchased this as a project car completely disassembled. Any though??? Thanks

Welcome to the forum, and I'd replace that ignition switch.

Replaced the ignition switch and no change.
Correction to my problem: When I turned the key one position to the right it did not start. In my original description I said that it did. I was wrong, the engine cranked but would not start. It did however start when the brown ignition wire to the starter solenoid (S terminal) was removed and the remote started button was depressed. Using a test light to the brown wire (removed from the S terminal) a weak voltage light appeared. Can't figure this out and NEED help. Thanks!

Aren't electrical problems fun. It's been awhile since I've dabbled with a starter relay. My 87 F350 would go thru them like 2 a year, till I figured out the PO had it wired wrong. I can't remember the wiring off the top of my head, but if you google it, you'll see wiring diagrams of where the wires go. Make sure the connections are good and double check your grounds.
