First Impression
Well hello everyone,
I just joined the site this morning. I was looking through some of the threads when I decided to write my own.
Are ant of you experiencing weird dash type rattles? I have the Ecoboost with performance package and this thing has rattled since it was new. It now has 8000 miles and when on smooth roads at 1500 rpm, this thing sounds like it has 80k miles. I took it to the dealer 3 times now and on the last trip, they refused to work on the car stating they couldn't duplicate the concern. It sounds as though they don't want to attempt it as it will fall under lemon law due to being a third repair. Either way, it still rattles.
Now that I voiced that concern, let me continue on. I really liked the new ecoboost on the test drive, but now that I own this one - WOW, what a nightmare. It doesn't really feel all that great. This one feels severely under powered for a turbo that supposed to be knocking out 310 horses. The gas mileage is really good. The handling is real nice. It corners well, feedback in the wheel is ok, and the braking is on the high side of very good. From there things take a turn for the bad.
Again, I thought it would just feel more spirited power wise, but not such luck. I know, I know, the weight and the auto trans didn't help, however I did add the performance package to try to offset those variables. NO SUCH LUCK. This things feels sick. I also read that there may be concerns with build up on the valves due to how the "PVC" system works. It dumps the oil vapors in between the cylinder 2 and 3, possibly causing them to receive excess build up and in turn, causing idling and drivability concerns. Well that ain't good.
So here are my questions:
1) what would you guys do about the rattling? It drives me crazy and for a car costing over 35K, I think it is a tragedy for it to rattle.
2) does anyone know when the new tune from Ford Racing is coming out? I heard it should be a real boost in the performance dept for this car. I also hear that maybe a larger intercooler and better wastegate may help, is that true? I don't see them helping power.
3) In light of all the info I have seen, is the car worth keeping or should I cut my losses now and run?
Again, there are some decent aspects to this car, but the rattling and lack of real performance feel makes me feel like this is a bad car or bad choice of car.
Also as an additional note, DON'T BUY FROM HAMMONASSET FORD IN MADISON CT. They are really horrible with service.
Thanks,
Bob D.

I have a 2014 Mustang that has had a trunk rattle since new. I took it to the dealer twice and it still rattles.
They all say same thing they can't duplicate it.
Your eco-boost should get more performance once you break it in.
Welcome aboard.
