Battery holding a charge issues. 2007 GT 4.6L
I have a 2007 GT 4.6L i bought from my brother a few months ago. It has an issue holding a charge. It satrted with draining evry three days or so, Now i can drive it to wor and come out two or three hours later and it cranks over slowly but usually fires. My brother has had three new batteries in eight months and i have had the last one tested a week ago and they say its good. I have changed the stereo sicne i bought it that the only thing that has been canged. Oh i should say this has been going on for about six years. The reason I changed the stereo ws i read in a forum that some of the "Shaker 500" had an issue trying to find a track or disc with the key off. Does anyone have an idea where to go form here?
You will be able to see the Shaker radio working if that is the cause. It continues
to run with the key off because the cd-changer is bad. It will keep saying
"Initializing" and "cd error" continually. Mine did it every time I opened the
door coming in or leaving the car, unlocked the doors, popped open the trunk,
basically, any time I woke the car up. However, it would stop after two or three
attempts.
You can pull the radio, open it up, and unplug the ribbon cable for the CD changer
and it will stop. It will be just a radio, won't even see the CD changer. Takes
about an hour. When you open the radio, then take the top off, there are
screws that hold the CD Changer carriage in it. You have to lift the carriage
up to pull the ribbon cable. You can replace just the carriage... However,
used Shaker 500 units are selling for under $50.00 that work. The most work
is removing the stuff to get to the radio...
