When I went to start my car it has been making a horrible grinding noise but it would finally catch and start but all it did is now a click what's wrong is the flexplate still good do I need to replace that too when I replace the starter

Could be as simple as loose starter bolts or a starter solenoid not engaging the armature, which means you need a new starter.
Start by tightening the starter bolts.
