Default rusty top need help

[:@]I have a vinal top 66 mustang with major rust. can anyone give me advice as to the best way to deal with such a problem. I have been looking at some of the rust treatments that change the physical make-up of rust and was wondering if the stuff really works? everything that i have read says that you can't fully get rid of rust. I dont want to replace the sheetmetal from another mustang if I dont have to.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Default RE: rusty top need help

ummm.. if it is basic surface rust I would suggest that you sand it down first with heavy sand paper and then keep going down less grades then put some kind of rust removing agent on it. After all the rust is gone prime it and bondo any holes you have unless the holes are big in which you will need to patch it with metal
