I put around 5000 miles a year on my cars. I change the Mobil 5000 everry six months. I also change the filter with a new Fram. No problems with oil leaks or burning. By the dip stick I never see any oil use at all. With my new stang I will be going to Mobil 1 or another top quality synthetic and still keep the 6 month change timing. I also change my own oil as I do not trust the "quick" places or the dealer to do the good job I will do.

I drive my car about 20,000 miles a year, and I bought my car at 50,000 miles, used regular conventional oil for the first 2 oil changes because they offered it free at my dealership. But at about 2,500 miles I noticed I burned a quart and that it was very dark. So I switched to Mobil1 and I noticed the car ran smoother, I change my oil at 4,000 miles and it still has color and it doesn't burn anymore. If you are hard on your car, don't use regular oil and don't go 10,000 miles in between oil changed. Mobil1 is $26 when it's NOT on sale at Walmart. Don't be cheap, just buy the oil and from what I've read, the car will last you longer! Also, it helps to let your car sit a little before you drive it, start it up and let the rpms drop down before you drive away. I read that the most damage done to the engine is starting up when the oil is cold. Please don't quote me on that though, but I have read it and heard about it.
