Looking at the picture what exactly is suppose to be standing out that makes the amsoil filter better from a glance.

Fine example is my 305K 2.3 Ranger
I have literally run basically every "on sale" oils such as dino, blends, and synth with zero issues

Im trying to figure the significance of that PICTURE comparision. If you're telling me you can "see quality" in that picture please explain because what most people will see at glance in that picture is two filters and the main difference in them is the spring style on the top of the filter and the diameter of a yellow ring............ how can you "see" the quality of the filtration material by that picture.

well a Fram "looks" adequate but
I wouldnt use one of those on anything,
not even a ranger with 300k on it.

My question still hasn't been answered, what's the significance of the picture. Judging by the response ur saying that picture has no significance which is the point I've been getting at.

ok from "looking" at that photo beast posted I can Clearly see the "thicker synthetic" media of that Amsoil filter , and I can see the paper media of the Motorcraft filter.

+1 theres a story there......
but a simple glance at something tells you nothing. you need empirical data. you need to make sure your control and test groups are appropriately selected via randomization, and that the groups are sufficiently diverse in their points of origin. then you need to make sure that every test you run on all the filters is done under the most exacting conditions possible.

simply because something LOOKS better doesnt mean it IS.

there is a Oil filter test standard.

ISO 4548-12:2000

Methods of test for full-flow lubricating oil filters for internal combustion engines -- Part 12: Filtration efficiency using particle counting, and contaminant retention capacity

ISO - International Organization for Standardization

but most companies will not release their results
