Oil and Filter for a 73 Mustang
An oil like Amsoil's Z-Rod 10W-30 should be an ideal lube not knowing anything else about the car. Any more info you can provide? I prefer Motorcraft filters...

Before I would recommend Amsoil's new Z-Rod formulations, I would like to know more about your car. How many miles a year do you drive your car, and is it stored long periods of time without driving?
What are your driving habits? Is this a daily driver, weekend cruiser, or drag strip king? So many factors go into choosing the proper engine lubricant.

Beast asked the right questions, what oil is best for your situation depends on several factors.
Filters are pretty even across the board (with the exception of a few). The best bang-for-your-buck would be the Purolator filters (I suggest the Pure One) or the Motorcraft line (which is the same as the base line Purolator). Some of the best filters out there right now are K&N, Mobile 1, and Amsoil but they tend to cost a good bit more.
