No its not directed at you,I was just saying what I've see and heard from ppl at races I've been to.
I use to race offroad trucks and pro areana trucks and the ppl that came to watch would say O I can do that or I can drive faster then you,but they never did they just sat there mouthing off.
ppl that drift can drive,I myself can't do it that good yet I can't control my car that good to make it slide through the corners yet.I make it go to far or not far enough.
There is a guy in my autocross club that drifts for a living and he is very good,at the last autox race on sunday he was drifting through a couple of corners it looked cool but it slowed him down through the corners.

I suspect that those into traditional formats of automotive competition are those who least appreciate drifting.

The best comparison I've heard - and I mean no disrespect - is figure skating competitions vsspeed skating or
any of the various downhill skiing events.

Drifting, like figure skating, is scored on matters subject to individual interpretation rather than on purely objective
time measurements. So there's bound to be some uneasiness among traditional enthusiasts where the possibility
exists for another competitor's ability to "show off" better to outweigh superior performance as measured by criteria
not subject to human interpretation such as time, distance, or speed.

Drifting is interesting from a technical standpoint, however- what it takes, mechanically,to improve the objective
side of the performance as well as making it easier to help the presentation. And a little experience being a bit more
sideways than normal can be a good thing.

Edited to fit on screen - there must be a large picture that won't pass through the work internet filters.

Drifting is more like surfing.

Here's my new set up: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7thh0VBM9o4

That was the 1st event for this car. I will be driving again on Saturday
