turbo /tuning question
i have a question... i brought my 05 saleen n/a to speed shop to have a turbo installed and forged internals in the motor. the guy told me he'd have it for 5 days or so and its been a month. he keeps telling me it'll be ready this day or that day cause he's waitiing for the tuner to come an tune it. now its been over 2 weeks waiting for the tuner to show. Does it typically take thas long for it to be tuned? I spoke w/ another friend of mine who works for a different car shop & he said he knows onlt knows of one tuner in the state of NY could this be all be true? and i went by the shop tonight an my car wasnt in either of the garage bays??? what do u guys think? thanks in advance.... freakin out in NY!!!!!
i have been tryin to be cool cause i know how it can suck, being a small business owner myself. 2 weeks ago it was "the tuner got back late from out of state last night", last week he got stuck in traffic, thjis week he cancelled. now he says monday he'll be there. what caoncerns me is that my car isnt at his shop. he has a bunch of rides in the parcking lot and 3 garage bays. went there tonight an my car isnt anywhere. do you think its possible he's driving it around or f---ed something up an is just stringing me along???? i am not happy
could be possible. I worked for a automotive place and this guy brought in his viper to get something fixed.....cnat remember what and my boss took his wife out to dinner in it.lol sorry i dont me to make you nervous cuz i could imagine the feeling but you cant blind yourself from the possibilties
well if it was my car, id demand to know what has been done so far and te be told where my car is.
then i would demand it come back to the shop. give him one day to have it at the shop so you can at least see the progress (if any at all). if he cant get the car back in one day or gives some excuse id tell him im calling the police and right infront of his face, call the police and tell them the shop stole it. that is the biggest load of sh*t ive ever heard. if you cant tune cars, you have no business having a shop that installs parts.
i can make a turbo kit in one-two weeks and i have school and work so if a shop takes over a month....they either f*cked your car up bad or the owner of the shop is loving his new 05 saleen

Some shops aren't tuners. There is a few places around here that work in conjunction with tuners. One shop installs parts, the other tunes. If you've been in the shop, do they have a dyno? If not, then they can't tune your car properly. Maybe your car is at this other guys shop. I know when I did my turbo, I had a shop that was the Sh*t down here. They were the guys to see about turbo Mustangs. Anyway, I did the install myself but I had a few little things that took special wiring and plumbing of vac lines and I wanted them to basically clean it up a little to make it look more organized and such. So I took it to them (flatbed over) and went through the shop with them. Turbo Mustang after turbo Mustang. BUT no dyno. [sm=wtf.gif]. I asked him how they were known as the tuning Gods without a dyno. The guy told me "Our location, do to it being near a neighborhood, will not allow us to have a dyno. We do all of our installation here and take it to Mustang Specialties, which is right down the street, and use their dyno." I talked to a couple guys on my local forum that recommended them and they confirmed the story. So if they don't have a dyno, that may be where your car is. And tuning a boosted car that didn't start out boosted is pretty tricky. There is a lot and I mean A LOT of different setting and such. And the worst thing about tuning is that when you mess with one thing it throws another out of whack. Maybe they just can't get the tune right.
just whatever you do, dont let him keep blowing you off. if he says its at the tuners shop, see if you can go check it out. or almost as good, get the tuners number so you can call him
dude its your car you need to demand to see it, do not let them give you the run around, they should be bending over backward for you especially after your spending all this money with them. find out who the tuner is and call and visit them immediatly. ask them personally whats the hold up, and if he doesnt know anything about the car i would go to the shop with a crowbar and get some answers...lol maybe not a crowbar, but you catch my drift. its your property and they have no right to keep any information from you.
also any Diablosport revolution tuner should be able to tune it as well as an SCT tuner, they have released the software for the S197 mustangs. so that shouldnt be a problem.
