Intercooler setup.... BOV?
If I put an intercooler on and have a Lightning 90 MM MAF can I put the BOV on the tubing BEFORE the MAF and not be a blow-through meter? How it was explained to me, the reason why you can't havea BOV after the MAF is because it is already metered air. Well if I put it on the bend right after the cooler, it would be before the metered air. Any help?
as long as the bov is BEFORE the air flow sensor in the intercooler piping you will not have any issues. If the sensor is before the bov when it vents to the atmosphere you will have a rich condition, making the car slugish, and it may even stall when stopping or give you a nasty buck in the drivetrain when letting off in gear. If its not a setup as a blow through (sensor after the supercharger/turbocharger) this will happen. But if you put the bov on the tubing before the maf, it will be a blowthrough and you should be alright.
I was at Carlisle this June and some guy had a custom intercooler and piping set up. He had the BOV right after the cooler at the bend which made for a nasty BOV and said he didnt have to adjust anything... just get it retuned.
