power adder question
I have a 2004 GT with the mods listed in my sig and some u&l CA's and DR's on the way. I want a power adder. my question is:
if i get a nitrous kit with all the bells and whistles, including remote bottle opener, heater, purge, all safety swithches...that is going to cost me as much as a good used blower isint it? And if i get nitrous, i still have to get it dyno tuned? plus nitrous to fill the bottle.....seems like a better deal to get a used blower. power on command, and all. am i right or am i way off? i really dont know A LOT about nitrous, but I do want more speed. lol

I am not the type of person to get on here and preach about nitrous being the end all of power adders. All the power adders have their positives and negatives. I've owned them all. Currently, my quickest car is supercharged. But I have a hard time believing you will pay as much for a loaded nitrous setup as you would a used blower with the neessary extras for it. If you want a price quote on all of that, send me a PM with everything you are wanting.
a used vortech will generally run you about 2k. a fully loaded nitrous system (assuming you install it) will probably run you about half that. think about this though. with nitrous, right when you hit that 3k window, you instantly have that 100 extra HP. with vortech or other centrifugal, you only just begin to build boost.
How about this:
EFI kit, fully automatic bottle heater, fuel pressure safety switch, nitrous pressure guage, blowdown tube & fitting, purge kit, remote bottle valve opener, rpm activated window switch all for under $1200 shipped to you. If you want to go turn on your own bottle manually, you get it all for under $1000 shipped. Shop around and then tell me that's not a great deal.

Like nanaki said, a blower isn't exactly power on command. S/C (centrifugal) will gradually gain boost. Whereas, nitrous is "BAM" on. Nitrous is the most "power on command". But yes, if you want to set your car up right, you need to have a nitrous tune. I've had nitrous before and now I have a turbo, and if it makes any difference to you, I want to put nitrous back on. I am not taking the turbo off, just adding it. I just wish I hadn't sold my kit.
it's all about money, the used blowers your seeing for cheap are probably entry level making little boost ( 5-6 psi)
i would love to have a blower , and eventually will, but i will also spray on it too. probably 50 or so.
i would rather make a little less boost, then squirt it for the extra.
