IAT sensor question
i recently installed a lightning maf and 42 lb inj on my vortech s/c 02 gt.
while installing i did notice the 2 extra pins, didn't really think anything of this. finished installing, tuned the car, seemed to be running great, then i get the check engine light. for iat sensor too high. po 113.
i guess i need to order an iat for a lightning nad somehow splice it in, i'm guessing after supercharger.
i'm sure this problem has been answered several times, sorry, i'm doing most of the work and flying by my pants on alot of the installs/bolt ons, except for the tunes. iget those from diablo.
any help would be appreciated as far as an iat sensor, pigtail, and where to mount.
thanks,
chris

next question would be..........
i plan on getting a boost cooler from Snow fairly soon. i'm thinking i need to install the iat sensor closer to the s/c, as it may effect the spray of the boost cooler? any thoughts, past experience?
thanks,
chris

get an outboard iat sensor kit, you can find them on ebay or do a google search, i cant remember who i bougth mine from. You need to tap a hole in your discharge tube, close to the tb. clip the outside most wires on the maf and wire it to the iat and just plug it in, it is like a 10 minute job. i had a machinist at work do the hole. With the snow, i would put it midway in the discharge tube, the iat needs to be able to read that temp in order to take advantage of the cooling. make sure you disconnect the battery cable so it will clear the missing iat code. if you have other questions, pm me.
I can't help you with your first question - I'd ask over at www.modularpowerhouse.com.
As far as the boost cooler, I have the snow kit with a Vortech V-2 and when they installed the Snow kit, they never moved the IAT sensor. The methanol/water is injected into the tube that runs into the throttle body. I have an old picture before it was installed.

If you follow the tube up from the blower to the TB, they welded a bung right where it curves to the right and put the nozzle there so that it sprays straight into the TB. The spray is controlled by boost. Comes on at 2 psi and goes to full at 6 psi. My IAT is way below it in that blue hose after the blower. You need to tune the car after the install. I had my tuned by Kauffman Motorsports and Dave had some real strong beliefs as to why it was installed the way it was.
