Default propane injection

I was at a car show over the summer and a guy had a 2000 chevy pickup with propane injection, at first i thought he had an awesome tailgating setup with twin tanks, but he sprayed it, has anyone on here tried it? My buddy was telling me the guy could do 85mph in third (auto).

I think they only use propane injection on diesel engines.

there was actually an article in 5.0 magazine where i guy who made propane conversion kits for a living, put one on his mustang. i believe it was a sn95. it was a supercharged car and they dynod it on 93 octane and got xxxhp (dont remember the exact number) and then they ran the car on the dyno running only propane (no gasoline) and the car made 5hp more. seems like no big deal but the propane he said costs 2/3 as much as gas does when driving around town and propane is like ~110octane i think he said so he could run more boost and more timing without the motor pinging.

as far as injecting propane like it was n2o, i think thats only done on diesels

used on diesels thought propane makes the diesel fuel lighter so it would burn faster?

Yeah you can convert the stangs to propane but it isn't really worth it... if you went to a local propane company that wanted a car to show off the technology too maybe they'd hook you up with a sponsorship-style deal... the propane is cheaper and is naturally in the range of 114-116 octane. The cost of converting it would be the big issue... you wouldn't have a doughnut spare because you'd have to put the propane tank there... or find another location, though, that is about the only spot that leaves enough space to store a decent amount of propane.

My AG shop teacher in High School had a propane converison in his 90 Chevy 1500. It went from 55k to 320k miles on propane. Its supposed to be alot cleaner burning and is capable of amazingly long engine life.
