Default FRPP Shorty's

How much of a gain will a slightly modded '01 GT 5 speed get with the FRPP Shorty's. I have heard "you'd be luck y to see 5rwhp" and "over 10rwhp". I am debating on installing these or waiting for LT's later. The only problem with the LT set up is I will have to sell my Magnaflow catted x-pipe...right?

Thanks.
Chris

I would just save it for some long tubes. Yes you will have to drop the catted X but you can always just get a shorty style off-road X. If you have emmissions testing though, forget it and install those shorties.

I have FRPP headers, when I had to remove them I felt a major difference on the ol' butt dyno. If you live anywhere besides MA you won't have the problems I did

the thing is, these I picked up for super cheap, if I was to purchase some I think they would be Bassani's mid-length headers. I heard that with the LT headers you lose some bottom end power[sm=smiley25.gif]

You don't loose bottom end with longtubes, thats a crock... maybe at 15000 rpm, maybe, but all the dyno sheets I've seen begin around 2500 and longtubes made more hp & torque EVERYWHERE

too many people go with longtubes of too large a diameter and this does hurt low end torque somewhat. keep em small like 1-5/8" and there should be no noticeable low end torque loss.

Save your money and go with the LT's in the future.
