Header Q for 2006 GT
I'm talking with RPM, a performance shop in Lewisville.
I have heard good things about JBA but am wondering if there is another shorty setup I should use. I was primarily interested in the JBA Titanium coated model.
Currently I have a CAT back setup at 2.5' Dia from Magnaflow. I have an air raid cold are intake setup as well.
Q #1 For the deep throaty sound what would be the best header to purchase. I like the tone of the magna flow but I need deeper and louder.
Q #2 Can anyone tell me what I could be blocking, parts wise incase I have to use my warranty and get something like a water pump replaced. Will the installation of headers interfere with any kind of maintance.
Q #3 Is the CAT going to be a bottle neck for my engine. With that being said, I have already had my engine backfire on 87 octance so I switched to 89 and it hasn't done it sense. Will I need to move to a higher grade with headers?
Thanks !!

I installed the Ford Racing shorty headers on my car 2005 GT. They were a pain in the *** to do and probably not worth the performance gain. But what I love about them is the exhaust resonance is gone. I have the Bassani X-pipe and Axle backs on my car and with the stock manifolds it sounded almost like glasspacks when I'd get off the gas. I HATED IT!!! I was ready to pull the pipes off when I decided to try the headers and I'm glad I did. The car feels a little better through the higher RPM but that could be my imagination thanks to the sound change. Either way if you're looking to make power Long Tubes are the only way to go. If you want headers for the sake of saying I have headers then the Ford Racing ones are great for the money.
Oh and you won't block any parts with their installation, but if Ford deems the install of the headers caused the part to fail then your S.O.L. Good luck with the project.
