how much boost is too much without an intercooler? a friend of mine wants to put a Vortech S-trim on his LT1, but doesnt have the intercooler...

 

vortech tech line should be able to help you im not sure with an LT

 

The guys running in NMRA Renegade class are turning mid 8s in the 1/4. There rules do not allow any inner coolers, and they are running YSi SCs cranking out 30-38 psi. So it all depends on the octane gas, the timing, A/F ratios, cylinder heads, plugs etc.

 

i ran 10psi non-cooled for awhile and had no problems. just make sure he gets it tuned.

 

Mine is at the dyno this week. I should be able to report some new numbers, A/F's, timing, boost, etc. I am not running an intercooler with my Vortech T trim. I am shooting for 15 lbs of boost with 100 octane tune using Big Stuff 3 programmable EFI.

 

if you have a 2.60 pulley, you'll easily hit 16psi. i'm only pushing 13psi on my T trim with a 2.60 with the intercooler i have now. i was running 16psi on my S trim with no intercooler, but had methanol injection. i'm going to get a lower crank pulley so i can get my boost back up to 16psi. the T trim is amazing. much quieter than my old V2 S trim and makes more power at 13psi than the S did at 16.
