2003 4.6L stock mufflers
Hi all... here's a muffler question from a Mustang newb (me), to lots of folks who know their Stangs (all of you ):
I proudly drive a '99 Oldsmobile Aurora, which has the 4.0L Northstar V-8 (a smaller version of the Cadillac 4.6L Northstar), and I'm quite interested in a muffler/exhaust upgrade. I'd like a muffler that is still quiet at idle, but will rumble/roar when I hit the gas. Opening up the flow would be nice too, as I'm not one to complain about more hp and better fuel economy.
A co-worker of mine drives an '03 Mustang GT and he recently upgraded his exhaust. He has offered to give me his OEM mufflers from the Mustang to put on my Aurora... would that even work, and would it be an improvement over my stock mufflers? My co-worker thinks that the '03 stock Mustang mufflers will probably be freer-flowing and louder than my stock ones, but I'd like some more detail on the muffler specs if anyone knows. Will they fit? Is it worth it, or should I just buy some Super Turbos or something similar? Thanks in advance!

Ok, thanks for the info. Believe me, I have asked plenty of folks on Olds boards and Aurora Club where I'm an active member. Many Aurora owners use Magnaflows or Dynomax Super Turbos for exhaust upgrades, but I was looking to save a few bucks since I could get the Mustang mufflers for free...

If they are free, the pipe sizes are the same and you can get them installed for free/cheap - I can't hurt to try. But once you cut the old mufflers out, you better have a backup plan...or you'll have a real rumble and free flowing exhaust to look forward to. hehe
