Default Quick Question

A friend of mine wants to turbo his 4.6 gt.

He thinks he can put a t25 turbo "off of a golf 1.8t" @ 6psi on his 4.6 and make as much power as say a t70 turbo @6psi. He thinks bigger turbos are just for making more psi, I tried to explain to him how psi doesn't mean much when it comes to turbos making power and how it's more about how much cfm they can push.

A t25 turbo probably maxes out at 220hp @ 18-20lbs of boost, and the mustang gt makes 260hp, so there's no way that could possibly work out for him. Would that even make power, would it restrict power, would it destroy the turbo?

A t70 turbo maxes out at like 650hp, so a t70 making 6 lbs of boost would probably be the same as that t25 making 20+ lbs of boost correct?

t70 on the left, two t25's (or something similar) on the right. for size comapison.

My numbers might be a little off, but you get the point.

Just explain to him how putting a small *** turbo like that making 6 psi, wouldnt make even close to the amount of hp a bigger turbo at 6psi would make.

I'll send him the link to this thread.

Default RE: Quick Question

No, the cfm output is compeltely different. He will burn out that turbo on his engine (if he trys for good numbers) It may help, but its a waste of time
