Default Catalytic converters

Hey,
I'm getting a new exhaust system (BBK Shorty Headers, Pypes X Pipes, and SLP LM I's)
I'm a college student and I'm not trying to use all my money.
I Heard that having off road X pipes with LM I's is obnoxiously loud so i want to get x pipes with the converters but that's an extra $160 so i was curious if i could use the cats from my stock exhaust to put on the off road x pipes.
Plus i got my v6 2000 mustang at a dealer and they require me to take my baby in for an oil change and i fear that they could report me and i'd be fined for not having the converters

So if I read you right your car is an '00 v6 and your modding the exhaust system with new headers, duals & you want to go with an X pipe. An X with no cats will be real loud for sure. No sense in buying an o/r X to cut it up. Just order the headers and mufflers, then find a decent shop to modify your current Y piped cats into an X. It isn't a big deal to do and will sound and perform just fine.

Your OOK, the mid pipes run from the cats back to the mufflers. Shorty headers will bolt up to the stock Y or an X/H, long tubes require a new aftermarket or custom X/H.

.. well I know you dont want to hear this, but i would just do 1 single 40 series flow and two outlets to the back, anything more and your wasting your time and money... from that point just save up to drop in a v8 in the future

There is absolutely no reason to put that much time/money into a v6 exhaust system. Like Fobra said, just get a nice muffler with two outlets so you can split it into duals.

No problem. If you haven't already you should check out the V6 forum for fellow 3.8 stang owners experiences. Also check out the sticky on tech articles and specifically the huge thread on exhaust upgrading.

I'll save you more. Stock headers flow just the same as aftermarket shorties. Don't waste time with them. If you aren't planning on more than 350 ish hp out of the car, just do a Y pipe back dual muffler set up. Dual after the Y pipe (assuming you don't buy crappy mufflers) will free up as much hp as doing the full exhaust from the motor back.

FYI - Flowmaster SUCK on V6 cars. Spin Tech or Magnaflow are your best two options.
