do we really need back pressure?
well i have the BBK off road Xpipe and SLP cat back... my exhaust is pretty much wide open cause of no restrictions... is this hurting me? if so what should i do? high flow cats? does my car really need back pressure? just wondering if im losing anything with my exhaust set up, thx
You still have back pressure, even a car with open will still have some back pressure. Generally a car with very free flowing exhaust will lose alittle low end torque but will see a gain in H.P. (actually you don't lose the power it just moves the TQ and HP curves higher in the rpm range)
JD1969 is right (hes pretty cool for a LS1 guy huh?
). Anyone who says an engine needs backpressure needs some re-education. Like he said, all the absence of backpressure will do is move the powerband depending on the application.

Must tough living in Vette Town USA with a Ford. But you do get a good NMRA race every year.
