Hey Prof. Wizard, Do you think these systems can be adapted to the 05 & 06 Cars?

Doubt they can be adapted....unless you have 07 computer ...dash display.... and the wiring harness to make it all work...plus the sensors...

TPS...means... Tire Pressure Sensor

It monitors the pressure for all tires and signals when one is low. Unlike the C5 or C6 Corvette which identifies each wheel separately, this system just tells you that your tire pressure is low....somewhere and not by how much. It doesn't say which tire or how low. The Vette will tell tire pressure in pounds at each tire separately. It is kinda cool...this is pretty crude and obviously intended to just get by the Federal Regs instead of being truly useful.

I have an 07 GT and I already don't like the TPS. It alerted me yesterday afternoon. I measured the pressure when I got home and observed 30.5, 31.5, 30.5, and 31.5 psi. The recommend pressure, as posted inside the driver door, is 32 psi. I didn't add any air. This morning the sensor was happy. I'm sure heat is a factor especially if the sensor is overly sensitive. I need the option to adjust the tolerance.

I can say our 05 Denali has TPS. And I bought a new set of TPS for my new wheels and it is a REALLY good system. (I use summer and winter wheels) I like how they inform the driver which tire has exactly how much pressure. Last week I hear something hit the underside of our SUV while driving in a construction zone but see nothing out the mirrors and about 5 minutes later my Check Tires light came on. I cycled through the tires and sure enough the RR was reading 22 psi (50 psi is recomended) So pull into gas station for air and find a 3" hunk of metal about an inch from the center of the tread. I air it up to 45psi and try and make it 4 miles back home to change autos. NOPE! about 2 miles down the road, within 100 yards @ 40mph my TPS went from 39 pounds to 4 in like 2 updates! BUMMER but I was glad to have this system because we were about to leave for about 150 mile trip. I guess the bright side was we got to take the stang instead. IMHO every car should have this and they should inform the driver what tire has how much pressure. Check tire idiot light is LAME this day and age! Oh yea, gotta love on star they would have come out to changed my tire if I would have let them. I feel that having these TPS allowed me to know there may be a problem and NOT damage my 20 inch wheels because of a dumb flat tire. 05SDI

Any good wheel shop has the valve stems to keep the system functioning properly when changing wheels. The valve stem ones work better and are more forgiving then the bands. They can be changed from bands to valve stem on new wheels.

All 07 mustangs have tpms. You can buy bigger straps and cradles from Discount tire all 4 up to 22 inch for around $50 bucks. I put all 4 of my sensors in asealed pvc tube with a valve stem on one end. You then set the pressure to 32psi you are good to go. I mounted my tube in the trunk between the speakers. This is the cheapest way to go.

I had 20's on my 07 when I bought it, dealer installed the sensors on the wheels with big hose clamps. What ever monkey installed them overtightened them and the sensor ended up rattling around in the tire. Had to go back to the dealer, who sent me to the tire store since they couldn't handle 20's at the dealership, and that cost me half a day. On the way home, another sensor came loose, and I wen't back to the dealership and told them just take the damn things off...I don't want to have to worry about them, and my tire pressure gauge works very well, thank you. Now, I just reset the dashwarning when I start the car...it's kinda' automatic. No big deal.

So would rim shops usually be able to help you transfer the sensors when you buy bigger aftermarket rims?
