Better stay with stock wheel sizes. The TPS is fitted by means of a band that holds the sensor in place opposite the valve stem. I have been told by Ford service people its not a problem for people who do a lot of tire work...they are used to seeing it. Just what I have been told...may not be accurate. There is scripture and verse in the owners manual about them

are you kidding me?they still use the band sensors? The valve stem sensors are much more forgiving, stronger and reliable too, tire size didn't make any difference. Can't they just lenghten the band on the band type sensors?

Actually, both my Jeep and my last Infiniti had the TPS in them. I found that if you don't really care about it, when you put aftermarket wheels on the car, the screen just reads -- for each tire. Although, I'm not positive how the Mustang one works.

D-man...

They are Tire Pressure Sensors.

Mandated by the feds to be on all cars by mid 2008 (or is it 07).

Anyway... after the Ford Tire Debacle with SUV's flipping over and killing people because of low tire pressure - the NTSA determained that TPS systems would warn drivers of low pressure and therefore keep them alive -- so they mandated they be on all cars to save lives!

I just got new rims for my 07 GTvert and the computer beeps and displays something like "Tire Pressure Sensor Failure". Its kindof anoying to clear out the warning every time I start the car. I am going to see if a new tune can disable the warning (as well as TCS).
