On the Pony Package 17x9 wheels, what's the widest tire than can safely fit on these wheels? I just got an X-Charger, and I'm thinking I want to get some wider tires for the rear end.....
I may be wrong, but I think the pony package wheels are 17x8's.

You beat me to it! TheBullitt wheels for the GT's and Pony Package V6'smeasure 17"x8". You'll have to buy your tires accordingly, or buy aftermarket 17"x9" wheels for wider rubber.

Is it possible to run 315's out the back? I did on my New Edge, but that was then....

I'm using 18x10 FR500s, 40 mm offset, all around, for autocross purposes.

On the front, the fit is marginal, with the 295/30/18 tires coming within 5 mm of the shocks. They clear, but there would be a problem getting a full lock on steering: the tires come up against the wheel wells and suspension hardware.

My suggestion for street use would be to go 18x9 in front, no more than 40 mm offset, and use 275s. They make Bullitts in this size with a 30 mm offset, and I'm sure this would work great with no rubbing issues.

Here is some help with confusion, on the 17X9 wheel the widest tire is the 265/35/17 for the front. It will allow full turn with no rub, but add a spacer and you can go to 285/30/17. the 285 will rub at the bottom of the fender with a rough road. Rear tire is the 285/xx/17. Any side wall will fit up to a 60, why you would put a 60 on I don't know, but you can. Like I said help with confusion. One of the beat options is to call Discount Tires Direct, you can Google it. The guys there are realy good and can absolutely help with professional advice.
