Default Bigger rear rims Ok?

Got a situation here.. I like my factory17inch rims and 235/55/17s on the front end of my car but I was thinking about running an 18/10 deep dish setup on the back with 285/40/18s on it.. Is this not a good idea? I dont really know alot about tires/rims on cars. Anybody help me out?

Should be alright, I've seen it plenty of times on the internet, I think it looks pretty badass with the DD's on the back. I also heard it was an option from chevy one year on the corvettes to run 17's in front, and 18's in back. Thats just what I heard though...

You are right the corvettes run 18's up front and 19's in the back. Looks great and when done right should be no problem running different size rims on a car. Treat it like staggered setup that have different tire sizes from front to rear ( I have a similar setup) and remember that you cannot rotate the tires with staggered tires or different size rims. (not that you didn't already know that)

Yeah running the different sized setup would put a slight kink in the rotating tires part wouldnt it.. lol.. esp with two different rim sizes
