S197 Ultimate Suspension Package
$1,000.00

Billet Lower Control Arms with Poly Bushings
Evolution Performance heavy duty billet Control Arms are CNC machined from 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum. Black hard coated for superior appearance and surface protection. Designed for lowest possible weight while retaining exceptional structural strength. 2.5 lbs lighter than OEM arms!!! These control arms come complete with detailed instructions with NO cutting or welding required.
Adjustable "3rd Link" Upper Control Arm and Mount
Need to reduce wheel hop and improve traction? Our New Adjustable 3rd Link with a poly bushing for theS197 is the ultimate piece for the performance Mustang enthusiast. This competition upper 3rd link, like the original version allows you to adjust your pinion angle. This piece is a double adjustable design allowing you to make adjustments on the car, eliminating the need to remove it from the vehicle for adjustment. Torque deflection associated with the factory piece is eliminated. The single upper control arm is responsible for maintaining pinion angle and preventing axle counter-rotation. This "3 link" style suspension is ideal for autocross and road race applications as it allows the most articulation possible with a solid axle. For drag racing, however, the single, centered link becomes a weak point as the arm is only one inch thick in the middle and made from light gauge, stamped steel. Our upper control arm is made from 3/16" CNC formed plate, TIG welded and gusseted completely around the bushing. The 3rd link is fully adjustable and is powdercoated in Black Hammertone.
Our upper control arm mount is a direct replacement for the OE piece and requires no drilling or welding to install. The last generation Fox body Mustangs had upper control arm mounts incorporated into the frame. They also had two upper control arms sharing the load but drag racers were continually ripping the mounts off of the frame when racing. The solution for those cars was to weld reinforcement plates onto the frame. This new Mustang platform only has one upper control arm and the mount is only bolted into place. Our upper mount is made from heavy duty 1/4" plate and can be bolted into place.
Complete engineered package, Much more cost effective and higher quality than other brands.
Adjustable Panhard Bar & HD Panhard Bar Brace
A good first step toward improved handling out back is to upgrade the panhard bar supplied by the manufacturer with our chrome-moly unit, featuring urethane bushings for reduced flex. And to make a good thing better, we added our heavy duty Panhard Bar Brace for even greater chassis stiffness.
3 Point Frame Rail & Torque Box Brace
We spent countless hours figuring out where the S197 could benefit most from chassis stiffening. Here is the end result....Made from 4130 Chrome Moly material this brace is specifically designed for the S197. It ties together the inner/outer frame rails and the rear lower control arm mount. Braces are Yellow zinc plated and come with mounting hardware. Can be bolted in with supplied hardware.

I'm thinking about getting this package installed to improve my stock suspension setup.

I have no plans on road racing, although I'd like to corner better and reduce 1/4 ET's.

id pass on that, the frame rail brace is not needed unless you are hardcore road racing in most people opinion and maybe not even then. Price out the parts seperately and then figure out if its worth it.

IMO it's a waste of a thou. Take the time to research the individual components you're interested in upgrading, but befoer that, decide on why you want to upgrade them.
I wouldn't use billet control arms. Period. For non adjustable LCA replacements, the FRPP pieces are ideal. There's no need for any of the bracing listed above (or much of any bracing at all on the S197) 99% of that stuff is marketing hype. If you;re not lowering your car, there's no need for an adjustable panhard bar, although a stronger upgrade can be beneficial, along with an upgraded brace. Spohn, BMR, Steeda all offer better products. There's really no need for an adjustable UCA either, but, again, an upgrade to a performance UCA is advisable. One of the problems with the S197 three link suspension is the very (too) short UCA. Steeda now has their UCA mount and arm kit with an extended arm that's the hot ticket. It's adjustable, and you'll need to set your pinion angle once you install it, but that's pretty simple.

I'm getting a 1-piece aluminum driveshaft installed and was told on this forum that I need LCA's and/or a UCA installed as well due to stress on the pinion angle even at stock ride height. I want to be able to launch better, lower 1/4 times, lessen wheel hop and corner better (who doesn't), so what would everyone recommend?

Is it better to have one adjustable point on the suspension at the UCA, instead of at the LCA's, and vice-versa?
OR is it better to have them ALL adjustable?

AND, I was looking at BMR products, but people are telling me thenewest Steeda UCA is like the best sincesliced bread...
so BMR? Steeda? About the same? Doesn't really matter? Can you mix-match different brands or not a good idea?

(My Mustang is a Daily Driver, that I'd like to take to a dragstrip once a month. At some point, but not anytime soon, I want to lower its stanceminimally.)

Hi 2006gtmike,

The parts you have an interrest in are of limited value and offer minimal improvements to you car's behavior on the street. Billet parts are for show and a offer no significant performance advantage overtubular LCA's or GT500 LCA.

You only have $1,000 to spend? Can you do the installation or does installation also have to come out of the budget of $1,000 you won't have much to install. For a good start on apurpose handling suspension here is a good setup without lowering for a person who is not into road course handling butuses his car as a daily driver.

$550 Tokico D-Specs, you have no idea how good you car can be without these dampers
$35 Eibach Camber Bolt Kit, needed to addnegative camber for improved handling andgrip
$100 FRPP GT500 LCA's, improved axle control, reduced wheel hop
$110 FRPP FR500C UCA bushings, improved axle control, reduced wheel hop
$180 Steeda Adjustable Panhard Bar,accurate axle centering, improved lateral location and handling feel
$ 80 Steeda Panhard Bar Support Brace, improved axle location and mount durability
$1,055 Parts Total

If you add more suspension down the road (and you will), once you get these parts installed you should consider these parts:

$ 160 Steeda Bumpsteer Kit, improved steering and stability
$ 280 Steeda Heavy DutyStrut Bearing Mounts, improved steering, allowsmore negative camber adjustment

HTH!
