Default 16" wheels

Has anyone put 16's on their car? I'm into more tire/less bling. I found this on another site, but I couldnt find what size the rims were...I like it. Thanks.

17 is about as small as I would go on a gt. The front breacks are pretty close to the stock 17's. The pic you see above looks to be a v6 stang will smaller breacks.

I am with you on the more tire and less weight consensus.

In addition to consideration of brake clearances, give some though to what kind of tires you'll want to be using and in what kind of 16" sizes they come in. Most of the newer, betterrubber that's big enough in terms of load capacity for an SN95 or later come with few if any 16" sizes, and some of the tires that have been around for a while have dropped some of the 16's. On a brief search I can only find a few 245/50-16's and three 255/50-16's at tire rack, but they're all an inch or more shorter than the OE tires.

Not that I particularly like having to look at 17" and up for anything decent any more - that means new wheels, too.

Bummer! I'll have my 08 Vista Blue GT by Tuesday, closest one optioned as I want it is in Washington, D.C., so they have to go down and get it. Guess I wont be putting something like this on either! I'd never consider a V6, but I definitely like the 16's better.

Ithink it's hard to find 16's that will clear the brakes in front. Alternatively, one could use the V6 brakes. *GASP*!!! The V6 weighs basically the same, so an upgrade V6 package should work fine. Get the V6 caliper, upgrade the rotors, pads & fluids. The V6 also uses the same brakes in the rear, so the braking bias shouldn't change.

Any change in rotor diameter (more specifically, mean radius of pad swept area) will affect brake bias. It's theoretically possible to compensate by using pads that have a slightly different coefficient of friction, but it's rather more difficult to get it right for all conditions in actual practice.

BTW, I since found that 265/60-16's are available. Kind of "truck-ish" at 28.5" OD vs the 27" that's stock.

I was gonna say, that we tried to put put 16" sixxer wheels on a gt, and they will not clear the front calipers.

Also, the pic you posted I would say they are 16" wheels, because they are wearing the OE bfg tires that came on the stock sixxer wheels.
