Firestone Winterforce Tires 215/65R16
Hey folks,
Anyone ever do searches for snow tires on the web?
Gave up after a while and went to the local (to work) Firestone dealer.
Found the Firestone Winterforce Tires to be a pretty agressive tread design for my pony.
I have lots of steep hills, both paved and unpaved, to climb this winter.
Got a price from the dealer of $65.99 each.
Sweet! That's cheaper than the stock BFGs...
Went online tonight to check out the "deals" on the web...
Holy Ripoff Batman!!!
1010Tires has them for, get this, $140.99 each!!!!
Looks like I'll be visiting my local shop for tires...
Anyone else run these?

i work for firestone and i recommend the blizzaks there 10x better in the snow than the winterforce. the blizzaks have a special rubber compound for maximum grip. just dont install them until the temp is consistantly below 40F the warmer weather will eat them up very quickly. most of our customers get three seasons out of them.
Please explain how the tread pattern on the Blizzak (straight grooves, with narrow gaps) is better at hill climbing than the Winterforce BL (with wide gaps between *****)...
This is part of the 1/4 mile of gravel road I have to climb...

I also do 160 miles of highway mixed in with 30 miles of city and country roads, daily...

I've read the first 30 customer reviews.

Looks like what I need, agressive hill climbing ability... I also have to go DOWN the hills...
The dealer said they were S rated, 112MPH.
Good on the highway.

the winterforce is like mud tire its high void tread design is going to dig through the snow. if yourleaning towards that thought process i definitly recommend getting them studded. it will make them alot more functional.the blizzak is designed to grip the ice and snow. the blizzak does has a different tread pattern but the increased traction benefit comes from the rubber compound. it is specially designed to be very sticky and the tread blocks are heavily sipped to allow the tread blocks to flex and grip. you may consider a blizzak for the front and a studded winterforce for the rear and definitly put a couple hundred pounds of balast in the trunk. that will make a huge difference even with all season tires. good luck.
remember the only advantage to a 4x4 is you can get yourself out of the ditch instead of calling a tow truck....lol

Anybody make tow loops to fit our stangs?
I can always have the wife bring the F150 and chains down to get me.

PS: The above photos were with stock BFGs and T-LOK. Snowed just before I got home (they plow only in the mornings). Took me like 3 minutes to get up the 1/4 mile hill. Sounded pretty mean with the duals blasting and the tires squeeling. Agravating though. You don't appreciate how steep the last 50 feet to the driveway is until you have no traction! Something around 20% grade.
Leave that pretty stang in the garage and get your wife to drive you to work in the truck!! Use the money you saved on tires to take her to dinner. Who knows you might even get lucky...
Mustangs suck on wet pavement, and they are useless in the snow.
BUT SERIOUSLY, They make a nice fiberglass spider that has a quick clip removal. First you bolt a center hub
to your lugs and leave it there in the winter season.
When needed it takes less than ten seconds to slap the spider onto the center hub.
The spider has 5 fingers w/ metal studs which wrap around the tire. The perfect compromise for
the last few miles home. Much quicker to install than chains, and pops off in a secwhen you get to the highway....
Hahaha
Actually costs $50 a trip in the truck.
Cheaper to buy tires than gas!
Actually my stang is GREAT on wet pavement!!! And decent in mud. I do have a T-LOK axle though.
These Winterforce tires are awesome in wet weather.
10x better than the stock BFGs that hydroplane at 50. Winterforces don't hydroplane all the way to 95. LOL
Never saw that Spider, sounds interesting.
