tire question
BFG kdw2- number three on the consumer reports list, highest treadwear rating but one apparent drawback-noise. Consumer reports went so far as to say the tire was "so noisy, its only suited for the hard-core enthusiast". Most expensive of all 3 but probably worth the money. Maybe they'll throw in a set of ear plugs.
I've got 18 x 10's and went with the Nittos so I could get 275's in front and 285's in back (not an option with BFG unless you want different tread designs). The 285/40/18 and 275/40/18 have similar diameters to stock tires, so you should not have speedometer calibration problems.
I figured I would get about the same traction with the285 Nitto as the275 BFG, and I like the staggered look.

aw dude, the new KDW design is bad ***. And on a side note, today was the first time it has rained since i put the KDW2's on, and I just have to say... wow... they definitely grip in dry weather, but for them to grip almost as nicely in wet weather, awesome tires... I had a lot of fun with my stang today

. In anycase I'm glad you like the tires because they're probably what I will ultimately choose. I thought a tire had to have deep water grooves to be good in wet weather but I guess I might be mistaken because the only tire better on the CR list in wet weather was the P-zero. I've never actually seen them in up close in person so maybe I'll like them better when I do.
First let me say thank you to everybody for your feedback. Oh6ponygirl, you are correct the Continental Contiextremecontacts only go up to 275. At a local tire dealer I was told I should get 245/40's front and 275/35's rear. But now I believe 255/45's front and 285/40's rear are the best fit and diameter. Is this correct? As far as the tires, I ran Eagle RS/a's on a previous vehicle and hated the tire noise which I assume is similar to the KDW2's, but because this vehicle is considerably louder than my last, (SLP LM's)
, I'm leaning toward the KDW2's.

Here are the KDW2 specs from the BF Goodrich site http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs...-a-kdw/22.html
The stock tires are 27" diameter and the ones youselect should match this or they will lower you car and not fill up the wheel wheels if you go smaller. The fronts you were given are close at 26.7 but the rears are only 25.6. To match the original diameters you need 255/45/18 and 285/40/18 and both of these are available in KDW2s.
