Default tire question

I've decided on the chrome Bullitt wheels, 18X9 front and 18X10 rear. I looked at a consumer report and found the Continental ContiExtremeContacts rated very good.Does anyone have any experience with these tires? My second choice is the Nitto NT555 extremes. Please help.

I have no info on the tires you are referring to but here is a link for you to take a look at.Its a Car & Driver test of high performance tires (not sure thats what you are looking for but an interesting read nonetheless) http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ature/(page)/1

I'd go with the nittos. Continental does make a good quality tire, often used in sedans. I remember reading a lot of reviews saying they wear out too fast. Tire rack review section I think?

Why not try the Goodyear F1 Supercars (GT500 tire)
Really good prices, and a 50 rebate until April 5th.

I wore out my F1 GS D3's, got wider wheels, and now run the Supercars
255/45/18
285/40/18

the Supercars are great tires, but they are damn expensive... my dad has em on his vette and he's about to have to replace them for the first time and i think it's going to end up being something like $400 per tire?

Thats because he has the run flat model. The others are not that expensive really at all.

Your tire brand selection will be based on the size of tires you choose. With that 10 inch rim I'm sure you'll be going 285/40's. If so, you are basically limited to 3 choices...all summer tires

Nitto 555's-listed next to last in the consumer reports nov. 07 issue. Not bad but not the best if you trust their ratings (some people don't)

Goodyear eagle f1 supercars- Same as on the gt500. The least expensive from what I see especially if you take advantage of the rebate. Not in the consumer reports but reviews on tire rack seem so-so. If your budget is squeezed you might have to settle for these

BFG kdw2- number three on the consumer reports list, highest treadwear rating but one apparent drawback-noise. Consumer reports went so far as to say the tire was "so noisy, its only suited for the hard-core enthusiast". Most expensive of all 3 but probably worth the money. Maybe they'll throw in a set of ear plugs.

If you choose the more uncommon 275/40's for the rear your tire choices become limitless but thats not the ideal tire size. If you need all seasons you will probably have to use this size. The Contiextreme contact tire you mentioned is an all season tire and I doubt made in the 285's

I know all this because I too have been trying to decide on tires and considering the choice limitations i'll probably end upgetting the BFG's and turning the radio up! Hope this helps. Tire selection can be mind numbing....

Obviously Im a goodyear fanboy(employee), but the F1's are noisy themselves. But who cares about tire noise on a Mustang, lol.
