Default RE: tire question

I need some help with tires. Have ultra low miles GT-H vert, want to go to the 20" Black Razors with 10" rears, 9" fronts, tires 285/35/20 rear and 255/35/20 front. Anyone with similar setup? Concern is whether the 285's will work on the rear. I read the wheels will not work with Brembo brakes but thats not a factor for now. Seems like the BFG's are the general preference despite the noise. The sizes I want definitely limit my choices of tires.

First let me say thank you to everybody for your feedback. Oh6ponygirl, you are correct the Continental Contiextremecontacts only go up to 275. At a local tire dealer I was told I should get 245/40's front and 275/35's rear. But now I believe 255/45's front and 285/40's rear are the best fit and diameter. Is this correct? As far as the tires, I ran Eagle RS/a's on a previous vehicle and hated the tire noise which I assume is similar to the KDW2's, but because this vehicle is considerably louder than my last, (SLP LM's), I'm leaning toward the KDW2's.
Your tire dealer probably gave those sizes to you because more tires are available in that size. Which brings me to a fact I find frustrating in that the 285's are limited in tire choices. You would think them being on the GT500 from the factory would feed the need. I think I would consider picking the F1 gs-d3 over the bfg's but no 285 availability. The 255/285 combo is the best pick both for the wheel sizes you have chosen and the comparison to stock diameter. Another point, since tire diameters vary between manufacturers within the same size, I find that comparing the rotations per mile gives a better indication of how close the tire will be to stock, since that is what the computer will ultimately read. In my search I have found tire rack to have the best prices so far. I calculated 928.04 to my door for the kdw2's. Be mindfull, tire racklists 2 different 255/45's I think. One has a lower load/speed rating or something.

I'd go with the nittos. Continental does make a good quality tire, often used in sedans. I remember reading a lot of reviews saying they wear out too fast. Tire rack review section I think?

I will have to disagree. Conti is the 4th largest tire maker in the world, and is a first class supplier to Ford, GM, Nissan, and Mercedes to name a few. I will say there are low end tires fromANY manufacturer.

Continental Tire DOES make an excellent tire for many applications from sedans to off road trucks to include summer performance tires. ContiSportContact 3 is a great tire for summer handling. Another good tire from Conti in that class would be the General Exclaim UHP. General Tire is a Continental brand. Here is a pic of the tread pattern on the General Exclaim UHP.
